This is a ceramic bowl, thrown on the wheel. Once it has been formed and trimmed, a modified rim is added for texture and design. Once it dries, it is fired to 1800 degrees F and cooled to room temperature, after which glaze is applied to the surface. It is then fired again to 2200 degrees F, which vitrifies the clay and hardens the glaze, making it water tight and food safe.
This dish measures 11 inches wide and 4 inches tall.
